3 Indonesian cops nabbed for allegedly supplying firearms, ammo to IS terrorist suspect
They are members of Jakarta and West Java police respectively.
JAKARTA: Three Indonesian policemen have reportedly been arrested for allegedly supplying firearms and ammunition to a suspected IS terrorist nabbed recently by counterterrorism forces in West Java province.
The trio, identified using their initials RP, SM and MYS, were arrested by Jakarta’s Metro Jaya regional police on Thursday (Aug. 17), news reports said.
They were suspected of the offences in relation to Dananjaya Erbening, an employee of Indonesian Railways, who was arrested in Bekasi for suspected possession of 18 firearms, IS propaganda as well as plots to attack police and military headquarters.
RP is reportedly a member of the General Crime Department of Metro Jaya regional police and was arrested in Jakarta. He allegedly supplied 1,500 live bullets to Dananjaya.
MYS was a member of the North Bekasi Police Criminal Investigation Unit and was arrested for allegedly supplying rifles to Dananjaya.
SM, meanwhile, was reported to be a member of Cirebon regency’s police in West Java. SM was allegedly involved in several activities with Dananjaya and distributing bullets and firearms to him.
The Director of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya regional police, Hengki Haryadi, reportedly confirmed the arrest of the three policemen.
“Two of the three policemen (who were arrested) are members of the jurisdictional police of Polda (regional police) Metro Jaya,” Hengki was quoted as saying Friday (Aug. 18).
