Terrorists' war materials seized in southern Philippines
They allegedly belong to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters group.
MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR: The Philippine military seized a war materials cache in an abandoned house allegedly belonging to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) terror group in Maguindanao del Sur province on Saturday (June 17).
While conducting security patrol along a marshy area, operating troops of Joint Task Force Central recovered the war materials used in fabricating rifles and other crew-served weapons in the nipa house in Elian village, Datu Saudi Ampatuan municipality, according to a military statement Tuesday (June 20).
Troops immediately secured the area and recovered all the war materials, which allegedly belonged to the BIFF – Karialan faction.
The Joint Task Force Central commander, Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, attributed the success to the informants whose timely information led to the recovery of the war materials.
The recovered war materials were deposited at the Army's 92nd Infantry Battalion's supply room for technical inspection and safekeeping.
Investigation is underway for the identification and appropriate filing of charges against the owner of the war materials, said the statement further.
Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido commended the efforts of the Joint Task Force Central troops to free the communities from tools of violence.
“Rest assured that Team Westmincom will not stop until our area of operation is free from adversities,” Galido stated in the statement.
