Ten more ISIS terrorists killed in latest Philippine military offensives
They were allegedly Dawlah Islamiya members.
MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR: Ten members of the Dawlah Islamiya terror group were killed in the Philippine military’s airstrikes and ground offensives on their suspected lairs near the Liguasan Delta in Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday (Dec.7), the southern province where the overall ISIS Philippines leader and 10 of his followers were killed last week.
Six of the fatalities were identified only as Omar, Mindo and Akmad Samsudin, Sukarno Bantas, Amier, Bader and Bedu, PhilStar reported.
Members of municipal peace and order councils in the areas where the military offensive was conducted said five other Dawlah Islamiya members were wounded.
Dawlah Islamiya is the local and Arabic name for the Islamic State or ISIS, the Middle Eastern terror group.
The 602nd Infantry Brigade of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) launched the offensive after local executives reported the presence of terrorists, who according to villagers were making improvised explosive devices.
The army attack targeted a part of the Liguasan Delta near Dalgan village in Pagalungan municipality as well as a marshland near Kabacan and M’lang towns in Cotabato province.
Villagers and village officials confirmed that the fatalities were members of the Dawlah Islamiya, PhilStar reported further.
“We have received reports from people in the municipalities about that. We are initiating means of securing more details from them. From our end, we don’t have an actual count of enemy cadavers yet,” Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, the 6ID commander, was quoted as saying.
Last week, 11 Dawlah Islamiya members including the overall ISIS Philippines leader, Abdulrah Sapal were killed during military offensives in Tuayan village in Maguindanao del Sur’s Datu Hofer municipality.
