Philippine govt forces kill seven communist insurgents

NORTHERN SAMAR: Philippine government forces killed seven alleged communist insurgents in an operation in Northern Samar province on Sunday (April 30)
Troops from the 803rd Infantry Brigade (803Bde) of the 8th Infantry Division (8ID) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) neutralised the seven Communist Party of the Philippines - New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) terrorists and recovered war materiel in Santander village, Bobon municipality, said the Philippine Army in a statement.
The joint operation was conducted following information given by civilians that a group of armed men was seen passing through the outskirts of the village.
The 803Bde immediately launched a military operation which saw an R4 rifle, two M16 rifles, one AK47 rifle, one improvised explosive device (IED) and subversive documents recovered.Â
The Army lauded the 803Bde and the PNP on their relentless efforts which resulted in the operation.Â
