Philippine Army commando killed, another hurt in Basilan ambush
Unknown gunmen ambush the Scout Rangers.
BASILAN: A Philippine Army commando was killed and another wounded in an ambush by unknown gunmen in the southern province of Basilan on Tuesday, it has been reported.
The members of the Scout Ranger Regiment were riding a motorcycle heading back to their camp from the marketplace in Sumisip municipality when armed men attacked them in Mebak village, Manila Times reported.
Nobody has claimed the attack but Basilan is a stronghold of the pro-Daesh Abu Sayyaf terror group.
The ambush came a day after one Abu Sayyaf member was killed and two Army troops injured during a clash in Patikul municipality, Sulu province, which is another operations area of the terror group.
