IS terrorist recidivist arrested with bomb materials in Indonesia
Suspect involved in 2011 and 2018 terrorism cases.
JAKARTA: Indonesia's counterterrorism force Densus 88 arrested a suspected terrorist recidivist for alleged acts of terrorism in Karawang Regency, West Java province, Saturday, it has been reported.
The Head of the Public Information Bureau, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, identified the suspect using his initials, AAR, Antara News reported.
"AAR is also a recidivist from terrorism cases in 2011 and 2018," he was quoted as saying.
AAR was arrested in 2011 and 2018 for planning terror acts using explosives.
Densus 88 investigators also confiscated a number of pieces of alleged evidence from AAR's residence in the form of electronic components and explosives.
"Also confiscated were several electronic components and explosives that would be used by the suspect in carrying out acts of terror," said Trunoyudo.
Previously, Densus 88 raided a rented house where a man suspected of being a terrorist lived in in West Kamojing Village, Kamojing Village, Cikampek District, Karawang Regency, Saturday.
The investigative team confiscated evidence in the form of white and yellow powder during a search of the rented house occupied by the suspected terrorist, Antara News reported further.
