Indonesia's antiterror force raids firearms-making home workshop, nabs two
Densus 88 also seizes dozens of firearms and hundreds of bullets.
WEST JAVA: Indonesia’s counterterrorism police force have reportedly arrested two suspects during a raid on a house in West Java province believed to be a home workshop to make illegal firearms in a case that stemmed from an IS operative’s arrest.
Densus 88 conducted the raid in Sumedang regency with the General Criminal Research Directorate of Metro Jaya regional police, according to a news report.
The raiding party seized dozens of firearms, hundreds of ammunition and a lathe machine from the house.
The raid was the fruit of investigations into a myriad of cases that stemmed from Dananjaya Erbening, the IS suspect arrested by Densus 88 earlier this month.Â
These previous cases included possession and sale of illegal firearms on online buying and selling platforms as well as the arrest of three policemen on suspicion of supplying firearms and bullets to Dananjaya.
Another suspect was arrested on Aug 16 in Semarang city, Central Java province, who allegedly converted an airgun into a firearm and sold it to Dananjaya.
Densus earlier said they had foiled with Dananjaya's arrest his alleged plot to attack police and military headquarters as well as police detention centres with the aim to free terror inmates.
He had also allegedly undergone weapons training and possessed more than a dozen firearms and over 2,000 bullets.
The 28-year-old state railway employee was alleged to have actively spread IS propaganda on social media and called for people to join violent jihad.
