Indonesian antiterror force arrest two alleged ISIS men travelling to Malaysia: Report
The two alleged Jamaah Ansharut Daulah members are arrested in Batam city.
RIAU: Indonesia’s counterterrorism force on Monday arrested two men in Riau province allegedly members of a pro-ISIS terror network on their way to Malaysia, it has been reported.
Densus 88 arrested the two men from Bima city in West Nusa Tenggara province at the Harbor Bay International Port, Batuampar, Batam city, at about 10am local time.Â
Both men were arrested because they were suspected of being part of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network, a radical group in Indonesia.
"The two were arrested when they were leaving for Malaysia," BatamToday.com reported a source as saying, who declined to be named.Â
BatamToday.com said they had reached out to the police for confirmation.
JAD was linked to the 2018 Surabaya bombings, 2021 Makassar bombings and 2019 suicide bombings at a church in the southern Philippine province of Sulu.Â
The terror network was also responsible for the 2019 stabbing of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, in Java’s Banten province.
