Pro-Islamic State group attacks Mindanao govt militia base, hurts two
Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters terror group attacks Moro Islamic Liberation Front's stronghold base.
MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR: A pro-Islamic State (IS) Filipino terror group attacked a government militia base in the restive southern Philippine province of Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday (Apr. 3) evening, hurting at least two people, it has been reported.
The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) terror group attacked the Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s (MILF) stronghold 118th Base Command headed by a Commander Badrudin in the village of Pimbalkan in Mamasapano district, Manila Times reported Friday (Apr. 5)
“The attackers led by Commander Zainodin Kiaro opened fire with automatic weapons, sparking a firefight that resulted in the wounding of two people, Mohamideb Sabpa Dalana, 25, and Mohamiden Midtimbang Dasil, 25.
“Police confirmed the fighting but gave no further details,” the report said.
The fighting triggered many civilians to flee the village for fear they would be trapped or caught in the crossfire.

There are two or three BIFF factions, but which one was responsible for the attack was not reported.
It was unclear what triggered the daring assault, but this was not the first time pro-IS fighters attacked the former rebel group, who is now part of the Bangsamoro government.
Last year, pro-IS terrorists attacked MILF camps at least three times in the province, leaving a number of deaths on both sides.
Recently, a spokesman of the BIFF’s Karialan faction threatened more attacks against government forces as it claimed an ambush on Mar. 17 that killed four soldiers in the province.
