Bangladesh frets over rumours Rohingya militant returned amid Myanmar conflict
Arakan Rohingya Army leader Nabi Hossain allegedly terrorised locals in the past.
DHAKA: Bangladesh authorities have reportedly arrested 23 armed Rohingya trespassers, raising the possibility that the ethnic Muslim group is now involved in the ongoing conflict between Myanmar's military and various rebel factions.
There are also rumors that Nabi Hossain, the leader of the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA), has returned to Bangladesh, bdnew24.com reported.
Hossain, who has a reputation for terrorising locals, has been on the run for two years after Border Guard Bangladesh offered a TK 1 million reward for his capture.

In a recent video that was released on social media, Hossain claimed that his group had killed members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police to obtain weapons and ammunition.
Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) and Arakan Army reportedly chased Hossain's men into Bangladesh, said the report.
Although locals reportedly y that the 23 Rohingya trespassers were members of Hossain's group, authorities have not yet confirmed which group they belonged to.
Rohingya Muslims have been fleeing to Bangladesh since a brutal military ouster of a democratically elected civilian government in 2017.
