Abu Sayyaf member wanted for murder nabbed
The 27-year-old suspect has been arrested in Metro Manila.
QUEZON CITY: An alleged Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member listed among the most wanted persons in Zamboanga was arrested by authorities in Quezon City, police said Thursday (June 22).
Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, in a statement, said Janhar Abdulhari, 37, also known as Janjan and Julpikar Pendiwata, the 7th most wanted person at the municipal level and the 5th at the provincial level in Zamboanga, was arrested Wednesday (June 21) at Tierra Pura Homes, Tandang Sora.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence reports and aimed to execute an arrest warrant against Abdulhari issued on May 24, 2022 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, in connection with a murder case.
Following his arrest, Abdulhari was immediately taken to the SPD's District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) for booking.
The suspected bandit’s arrest was carried out through the coordination between operating teams composed of joint personnel of the DSOU and District Mobile Force Battalion of the SPD, along with the National Intelligence Support Group-National Capital Region, Quezon City Police District-DSOU, 3rd Special Operations Unit of the Philippine National Police Maritime Group, and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
In a separate statement, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo, lauded the efforts of the operating units for their professionalism and dedication to eradicating terrorism in Metro Manila.
