Abu Sayyaf member nabbed in Mindanao
The 61-year-old suspect was arrested in Basilan province.
BASILAN: The Philippine police have arrested a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf terror group (ASG) in the southern province of Basilan.
The chief of Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan, identified the detainee as Kumtaman Nusaman, 61, according to a report.
Alinsañgan said Nusaman was arrested in a law enforcement operation to serve a warrant of arrest on July 13 in Tumahubong village, Sumisip municipality.
A court in Isabela City, Basilan, issued the arrest warrant against Nusaman for robbery with homicide with no recommended bail on July 11, 2023.
The police chief said Nusaman was one of the remaining ASG members based in Basilan.
He was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Basilan Provincial Field Office.
